Springfield Model 1898 Krag bolt action rifle. Made 1899. Standard markings on the left side of the receiver. Boxed "JLA/1899" cartouche on the left side of the stock. Circled "P" firing proof on the wrist. Standard pedestal blade front sight and Model 1901 rear sight adjustable to 2,000 yards. Receiver retains its original blued finish. Barrel and bands were lightly refinished at some point. Bolt handle was heavily polished as well. Stock has a light reapplied oil finish. Smooth metal butt plate with trapdoor for cleaning kit. No cleaning kit present in the butt stock. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its finishes with general wear and a brown patina forming. Stock has handling marks and scratches. Bore is clean overall with strong rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
