An excellent example of a Smith and Wesson Model 1917 double action revolver chambered in .45 ACP and manufactured in June of 1918. Blued square butt "N" frame with plain walnut grips, lanyard ring and pinned round barrel with fixed front sight and rear notch cut into top of frame. Left side of barrel stamped "S.&W. D.A. 45" and under the barrel stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Bottom of grip is stamped "U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917 NO 74621. US ordnance flaming bomb stamped on top left side of frame. 4 eagle head assistant inspector marks throughout with numbers S9, S4, S2, and S1. All matching serials on butt, cylinder face, barrel flat, yoke, and back of extractor star. CONDITION: Excellent overall condition with most of the original bluing remaining. Minimal handling marks throughout. Left stock show discoloration towards edges. Good bore and good mechanics. An excellent piece for any collection. GFP
