This sword has a straight single-edged blade with a tapered wide center fuller and a 12" false edge. The silver heart-shaped guard has 1 outboard branch on the right side. The ball-shaped pommel has an integral turned capstan on top. Marked with silver hallmarks on left side of knucklebow near intersection with pommel. Stamped with a "JH" mark with three other indistinct hallmarks. Grip covered with twisted silver wire and bands of sheet silver. Complete with its original leather scabbard with sheet silver top mount and replaced brass drag. CONDITION: Blade retains a bright surface with some bending at tip. Hilt retains a pleasing pewter patina with some heavy denting to guard and an absent quillon. Hilt slightly loose. Scabbard very good with part of top mount broken and absent. A very attractive 18th century silver-hilted officer's sword. DMG
