Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 bolt action rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1953. 24" blued Winchester Proof Steel standard weight tapered round barrel marked .22 HORNET caliber, fitted with hooded ramp front sight and missing 22G adjustable rear sight and marked with Winchester two line address and "MODEL-70-22 HORNET". Matted finish action with solid bolt handle and bolt body electropenciled with matching serial number of action. Follower has been replaced with what looks to be a Remington 722 follower Action fitted with Redfield one piece base and Weaver K-12-1 scope. Winchester standard grade walnut checkered pistol grip stock with blued steel checkered Widow's Peak buttplate. Barrel ground at breech spuriously removing a rechamber to 222 Remington marking with bolt also engineered to accept 222 Remington. CONDITION: 90% barrel blue with area of removed finish near breech. 90% original action finish with light surface corrosion. 90% original wood finish with light handling use. Good bore with functioning mechanics and usable optics. GUN SHOULD BE EXAMINED BY PROFESSIONAL GUNSMITH BEFORE FIRING. DLM
