Circa 1860. An ornately engraved 16 guage with 29 - 3/4" Damascus steel barreled vintage game gun with with 2 - 1/2" chambers. Barrel's rib is smooth and slightly concaved with a round steel front bead sight. Bottom of right barrel are stamped "JB" and "27.2". Left is stamped with early Belgium proofs and serial number "3519". Chokes are Cylinder and Cylinder. Double dog ear engraved and checkered hammers on this pinfire peninsula action are built with double triggers. Action with Jones type underlever and with 1/2 cock. Action with lovely vine and scroll engraving. Dark reddish brown stock with straight hand grip, loop for sling and is finished with a steel butt plate. Trigger guard, hammers, bottom and top strap are nicely engraved with matched scroll. The smooth cross pinned splinter forend is fit with an engraved escutcheon. CONDITION: Good. Barrels with lots of Damascus configuration remaining. Bores are good. Action and triggers are sound. Stock good with various handling marks from use, age and storage. Forend good also with older handling marks. Pretty Vintage Piece. CP
