1877 vintage Colt Cavalry Single Action Army revolver, serial number 34214. 7 - 1/2" round barrel in .45 Colt with blade front sight, single line Colt Hartford, CT barrel address, and V-notch frame rear sight. Early donut ejector rod head with blackpowder frame. Matching serial numbers observed on butt, trigger guard, frame, and cylinder. Barrel is serial numbered "31935"and marked "C / G" underneath ejector rod housing. "J.T.C." inspector mark (John T. Cleveland) observed on barrel, cylinder, and on grips near butt. Barrel and cylinder bear "P" proofmark. Frame is marked "U.S" on left side near 3 line patent date. Frame is inspected "L.D" (Lewis Draper). "C" (condemnation mark) can be found on rear of frame inside hammer slot. Single piece plain walnut grips bear "1877" / "DAL" (David A. Lyle) cartouche on left side and "JTC" (John T. Cleveland) on right. This exact Colt Cavalry (serial number 34214) is pictured in "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Graham, Kopec, and Moore. CONDITION: Good, with virtually all of the original finish turned to a dull gray patina with scattered handling marks throughout. Grips fit well and are very good as cleaned with rounding at butt, a chip near butt on left side, and an indentation on right side near cartouche. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is clean and frosted throughout with modest abrasion. TON
