Lot consist of: (A) Rock Island Arsenal 1903 bolt action rifle. Made circa 1920 with typical markings on the chamber. "NS" marked bolt. Barrel and stock have been cut back. Ramped blade front sight and Lyman adjustable rear peep. Re-blued finish on the metal components. Floor plate has an engraved deer. Oiled wood stock with a capped pistol grip and rubber butt pad. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its re-applied finish with general wear and handling marks. Action is covered in a protective grease. Stock has normal dings and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) Springfield 1898 Krag bolt action rifle. Made 1900. Standard markings on the right side of the receiver. Barrel and stock have been cut back. 1903 style front sight (with protector) and a rear peep attached to the bolt. Metal components were lightly re-blued at some point. Oil finished wood stock with checkering on the wrist and forearm. Capped pistol grip with no butt plate. Includes attached slip on rubber butt pad. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its re-applied finish with general wear and some brown patina starting to form. Wood has handling marks and a few scratches. Bore is clean with strong rifling. Mechanically fine. Rubber butt pad is ripped on the bottom. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Lieutenant General Carson Able Roberts (USMC 1929-1964). JWA
