Prussian Contract Mauser C96 "Red Nine" semi automatic pistol with shoulder stock. Made circa 1916 at Mauser Oberndorf. Standard company address markings on the right side of the frame and on the chamber. Proper "(crown)/U" proof on the left side of the chamber, with an imperial military proof on the right. Prussian eagle on the bottom of the trigger guard. Each grip panel is marked with a large "9" painted red. No import mark found. Matching serials on the visible numbered components. Grips are both matching as well. Large blade front sight with rear tangent adjustable to 1,000 meters. Lanyard ring, stud and slot for a shoulder stock are present. Factory blued finishes on the metal components. 32 line oil finished wood grips. Includes a leather flap holster (possibly home made, with hand written illegible markings on the inside flap), reproduction shoulder stock, original stock door hinge, original stock spring, original hammer assembly, and an original wartime commercial 7.63 caliber slide assembly. Slide assembly is Imperial proofed, retaining its original bolt and sights adjustable to 1,000 meters. Also included is a copy of a post-War importation document where the gun is listed by serial number. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its original finish with general wear and handling marks. Strong fire blued on the appropriate parts. Grips have handling marks and scratches. Bore is clean overall with strong rifling. Mechanically fine. Holster has wear and crazing, but stitching is tight. Stock is excellent. Parts and slide assembly are covered in grease and a brown patina. Bore is frosted, but has good overall rifling. JWA
