Soviet Russian Tula SVT-40 semi automatic rifle barreled action. Made "1941" as marked on the chamber. Typical Russian proofs and Tula star on the chamber as well. Boxed "SA" Finnish Army stamp on the left side of the chamber. No import mark found. Mismatched serials throughout. standard barrel with typical muzzle device. Hooded post front sight with rear sight adjustable to 1,500 meters. Blued finishes look to be original. Stock is broken off at the wrist. Light lacquered finish on the remaining metal components. Magazine, trigger group, and dust cover are absent. CONDITION: Metal retains 75% of its original finish with general wear and handling marks. Lower barrel shroud has been cleaned of its finish. Stock is broken off and has numerous other cracks and handling marks. Bore is frosted, but retains strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Brigadier General Theodore C. Mataxis. According to his Son, "Weapons were collected from surrendered Germans, lined up curbside, and run over by a halftrack. Dad got there late on this one, but is a genuine WW2 Bringback. JWA
