Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle. Made 1887. 2 line company address/patent dates on the barrel, in front of the rear sight. "MODEL 1873" marked on the upper tang. Caliber marked on the chamber, with "22 Cal/Short" marked on the bottom of the elevator. Octagonal steel barrel with blade front sight and buckhorn style v-notch rear. Full length magazine tube. Original blued finish on the metal components. Factory dust cover present. Wood stock and forearm look to have their original oil finish. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% or less of its original finish with most areas forming a heavy brown patina. Dust cover is loose, and does not move when cocked. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Forearm is solid with no visible cracks. Bore is heavily frosted with pitting and poor rifling. Mechanically operable. JWA
