Circa 1924. A vintage and elegant gun from Germany with 2 20 gauge shotgun barrels and a third rifle barrel. The 27 - 5/8" nitro proof round, blued steel barrels are fit with extractors, a tapered machined full length flat top rib with extension, standing V shape rear sight, gold tip blade front sight and sling loop on bottom rifled barrel. Top of the rib reads "FR. J.A.C. BARTELS WIESBADEN". The 2 top 20 gauge barrels are made from Krupp crucible steel (GUSSTAHL) and the bottom rifled barrel is made from "POLDI- ANTICORRO" steel and is chambered for the 9.3x72mmR cartridge (marked 9.3x72 Norm.) Bottom of barrels have appropriate period German proof marks. The scalloped case color finished boxlock action is adorned with rose bouquet and fine scroll engraving. Action is fit with cross bolt fastener, side clips, disc set strikers, cocking indicator pins, gold washed double triggers protected by a horn trigger guard, Greener style side safe, push button checkered slide safe on top tang and an engraved blued top lever with left side checkered thumbpiece. Engraved on the top tang ahead of the slide safe "SCHROT" is engraved. Reddish-brown walnut stock is fit with a round knob pistol grip with diamond shape, 2 panel fine checkering, pancake style cheekpiece, engraved case color hardened trap, swivel for sling and a 14 - 3/8" LOP to a hard rubber basket weave pattern buttplate. Slender finely checkered forend with Deeley type leaver release. Gun lives in a vintage leather Leg O' Mutton case. CONDITION: Good. Barrels retain 90% black, bores are bright and rifling is good. The checking on the left side grip of the stock is chipped, bottom edge of cheekpiece is chipped. and both stock and forend have use and storage marks. Triggers are crisp and function properly. The case is fair with various handling/use marks in the outer leather and broken straps. A gun of great utility! CP
