Circa 1825. A vintage presentation hammered game gun and rifle built with 2 sets of browned steel barrels. 12 bore Shotgun barrels are 30" and rifle barrels are 32". 30" brown laminated steel barrel are fit with wooden ram rod with brass tip and wide smooth flat top rib. Rib reads "MANUFACTURED BY JOSEPH MANTON & SONS EXPRESSLY FOR E.R.PEETE AND PRESENTED BY HIM TO SAM.T.TAYLOR." in gold. Rib fit with round brass bead at muzzle. 32" rifle barrels are fit with steel ram rod with brass tip. Rifle rib featured with for folding leaf sights (unmarked) and rib also reads "MANUFACTURED BY JOSEPH MANTON & SONS EXPRESSLY FOR E.R.PEETE AND PRESENTED BY HIM TO SAM.T.TAYLOR.". Rib fit with bladed foresight with brass tip at muzzle. Bottom of barrel reads "Laminated Steel" and with London Proof stamps. The hefty rifle barrels caliber is believed to be a .58 bore. The coin finished hammered action is adorned with slightly worn game scenes and scrolls. Blacked hammers are also engraved with scrolls. Action fit with narrow, blacked double triggers and trigger guard is blued with scroll engraving along with game scene on trigger guard bow. Long bottom strap is engraved with scroll and ahead of trigger plate there is a an ornamental engraved pineapple. The one piece nicely tiger striped English walnut stock and forend with English straight grip is fit with eye for sling swivel, cross pin release is finished with an engraved and finely checkered steel butt plate. Forend tip is also engraved with an ornamental pineapple. English straight grip is checkered with flat top diamond shaped checkering. CONDITION: Good. Barrels with most of their brown and bores are very good. Action is good but showing some ware to engraving. Triggers are good. Stock good with visible handling marks and fracture above right lock. Forend good with appropriate ware for the pieces age and visible use indications. Nice Vintage Piece. CP
