Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle. Made 1888. Two line company address on the barrel. "MODEL 1886" on the top of the tang. "40-82 W.C.F." marked on the chamber. Octagon, steel barrel with blade front sight and buckhorn v-notch rear. Full length magazine tube. Case colored frame and lever, with the balance of the parts being blued. Wood stock and forearm look to have their original oil finish. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finishes with most areas starting to form a heavy brown patina. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Forearm is solid with no visible cracks. Bore is heavily frosted with good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
