Sharps Model 1868 conversion single shot breechloading carbine with 22" round barrel in .50-70 Government with carbine folding ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards with replacement blade front sight. 2 piece plain walnut stock and forearm with single barrel band, saddle ring with bar, and military buttplate. This gun was originally a Model 1863 and was converted to cartridge during the Indian Wars era. Cutout for patchbox is still present on right side of buttplate. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated with barrel retaining bright reapplied bluing with light freckling throughout. Action has turned a blue-gray patina with an added "US" marking near serial number. Stock and forearm have been sanded with finish added. Mechanically fine. Bore is frosted with abrasion toward muzzle and well-defined rifling. TON
