Manufactured circa 1875 as a late First Model Winchester 1873 carbine. 20" round barrel chambered for the standard .44 WCF (.44-40) cartridge with full length magazine tube. Carbine front and rear sights, with rear sight elevator missing. Early style sliding cover mortised into receiver, with serrations replacing standard checkered oval thumb rest on cover. 2-piece plain walnut stocks with saddle ring, carbine trap butt plate, and barrel bands. CONDITION: Good. Overall reddish gray patina with some traces of blued finish. Stocks are slightly undersized, having been cleaned. Bore has strong rifling with some older oxidation. Good mechanics. Missing screw on top of frame in addition to lever lock. BAS
