Whitneyville Armory "Whitney Kennedy" lever action rifle. Made circa early 1880s. Barrel is marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY, CT. U.S.A." in front "KENNEDY" and the rear sight. "44 CAL. C.F." marked in front of the receiver. 2 line patent dates on the upper tang. Octagon barrel with German silver blade front sight and v-notch buckhorn rear. Full length magazine tube. Original finish on the metal components. Early "S" shape lever. Wood has a light oil finish. Crescent metal butt plate with trapdoor. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with most areas being polished to bare metal. Some light surface rust covering most areas. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Very clean bore with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
