Winchester Model 1897 Diamond Grade Trap slide action shotgun. This is most likely a special order gun, made in 1907. 2 line company address and patent dates on the top of the barrel. "12 GA." and Winchester proofs on the chamber and frame. Matching serials on the receiver and barrel assembly. Fine engraving on both sides of the frame. Round Damascus steel barrel with bead front sight. Blued receiver. Oil finished straight grip wood stock and forearm. Fine checkering on the wrist forearm. Black diamond inlay on both sides of the wrist. Added thick red rubber butt pad. 2 - 3/4" chamber, with a full choke bore. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finishes with wear, and some gray patina starting to form. Wood has handling marks and scratches, being very good overall. Bore is shiny. Mechanically fine. JWA
