Colt Model 1863 Percussion Rifle. Made "186?" as the date on the top of the barrel is illegible. Lock is dated "1863". Other markings on the lock are barely visible. "N.J." marked on the the left side of the barrel and stock. No visible federal proofs. Standard blade front sight and 2 position flip up rear. Metal has no aftermarket finishes, with most areas looking to still be in the white. Wood has a light oil finish. Standard metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal is pitted in areas with most areas forming a heavy brown patina. Some surface rust on the hardware. Wood has minor dents and scratches. Bore is heavily frosted with fair rifling. Hammer is tight. Nipple is well formed and has some light surface rust around it. JWA
