Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle. Made 1891. Two line company address/patent dates on the barrel, in front of the rear sight. "MODEL 1873" marked on the upper tang. Half round, half octagon, steel barrel with replacement ramped blade front sight and buckhorn style v-notch rear. Half length magazine tube. Original blued finish on the metal components. Factory dust cover present. Wood stock and forearm have been sanded and retain a re-applied varnished finish. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with general wear and some light brown patina forming. Wood has handling marks, dents and scratches. Forearm is solid with no visible cracks. Bore is clean overall with a few minor pits. Mechanically fine with the dust cover operating as it should. JWA
