Nice example of a World War II Japanese Type 94-6 radio assembly. The Type 94-6 is a compact single-valve portable transceiver that was manufactured in Japan and used by the Japanese Army throughout World War II. Development for the Type 94-6 began in 1934 and production continued throughout the war. This particular example is dated October 1939, according to the data plate. The radio is very compact compared to other radios of the era and is well built. The entire radio is housed inside a rectangular metal box and would be carried in a case. This example is stored in a case that is constructed of rubberized canvas, the same material that some Nambu holsters are constructed of. CONDITION: The radio is overall complete but is missing the detachable antenna. The radio is very clean and the metal box retains most of its original paint while exhibiting scattered scratches and blemishes. The lid latches correctly and the metal box is complete with the data plate. The rubberized canvas case is clean, but the straps are somewhat stiff. The two snaps are missing from the front of the case and the snaps on the lid exhibit corrosion. There are scattered blemishes and leather flaking throughout. Overall good. JLD
