Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle. Made 1882. Barely visible two line company address/patent dates on the barrel, in front of the rear sight. "MODEL 1873" marked on the upper tang. "32 Cal" marked on the chamber and the bottom of the elevator. Round, steel barrel with blade front sight and buckhorn style v-notch rear. Full length magazine tube. Original blued finish on the metal components. Correct dust cover present. Wood stock and forearm look to have their original light oil finish. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish, with most areas forming a heavy brown patina. Some light surface rust is present on the barrel as well. Magazine tube is held in place by modern screw. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Forearm is solid with no visible cracks. End cap is chipped on the left top corner. Bore is heavily frosted with fair rifling. Mechanically fine. Dust cover is functioning as it should. JWA
