1868 vintage .36 caliber Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver. Standard high polish blued 7-1/2" octagon barrel with 1-line New York address, replacement pin front sight, and hammer notch rear. 6-shot percussion cylinder roll marked with Ormsby naval engagement scene. Case hardened frame stamped on left "COLT'S/PATENT". Brass grip straps with large style round trigger guard. Grips are 1-piece smooth walnut. CONDITION: Fine. Majority of factory applied blued finish is retained on barrel with areas thinning to gray patina and scattered marks from use. Cylinder retains traces of factory blue with strong cylinder scene obscured at spots with light abrasions. Frame and loading lever exhibit strong case colors. Portions of case colors visible on hammer with balance a silvery patina. Mellow patina shown on grips straps with a few dark spots. Grips have losses to varnish, light abrasions, and minor impressions. Good bore, having well defined rifling and evidence of light oxidation. Crisp mechanics with tight lock up. Full or partial matching numbers observed on frame, barrel assembly, wedge, cylinder, cylinder arbor, trigger guard and back strap. Loading lever unmarked and a probable replacement. BAS
