Manufactured in 1878. This is the first successful double action that Colt manufactured with a run of just 166,849 guns being manufactured from 1877 through 1909. This gun has an early feature that you hardly ever see: a Single Action front sight. They only put these on in the first couple of years of manufacturing. Two line address on top of the barrel and an etched panel on the left of the barrel. Three line patent date on the left front of the receiver. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and the back of the cylinder. The Two piece hard rubber grips also have the serial number on them in pencil. CONDITION: The action works in both single and double action. The cylinder stop does not engage the cylinder. Gun retains 40% of the original factory nickel plating. Niter blue on the hammer and trigger is about 40%. Fair bore with some frosting in the lands and grooves. Grips show some slight wear. REW
