72 caliber smoothbore flint lock pistol circa the late 1700's early 1800's of unknown origin. 13" smoothbore barrel with brass blade front sight, marked with "Crown" over 7 stamping at breech and what looks to be "VB" and "CR" at left breech. Tang is inscribed with "NH" and "17" with brass two screw sideplate with No. 25 stamped in it. Unmarked Banana style early flint lock with single trigger control. Beech or possibly fruitwood stock with brass hardware with unique flattened buttstock and brass cap also numbered 25. Steel trumpet type ramrod with knife stamp on shaft and end threaded for attachment. Gun could possibly be continental European or American Assemblage of European obtained parts. Neat gun. CONDITION: Metal parts turning a silvery patina with brass turning a dark mustard color. Wood retains what looks to be traces of original finish with handling dings and marks. Dark bore with crisp mechanics. DLM
