Classic .44 caliber sidearm of the American Civil War. This example manufactured in 1863. Standard 8" round barrel, New York Address, German silver blade front sight, v-notch rear sight cut into hammer, and rebated 6-shot percussion cylinder with naval engagement scene. "W" inspector stamp fount on cylinder and barrel assembly. Recoil shield is cut for shoulder stock with matching steel back strap. Oil finished smooth walnut grips with faint inspector cartouches. CONDITION: Very good. Overall dove gray patina with some older oxidation spots. Brass bright but starting to mellow. Markings clear with cylinder scene largely visible. Grips good with some impressions. Very good bore with crisp rifling and some light oxidation. Crisp mechanics. Matching complete or partial numbers observed on frame, barrel assembly, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, cylinder arbor, wedge. BAS
