Manufactured in 1862 for the American Civil War but was rejected by martial inspectors, bearing a "C" condemned mark on the cylinder. Standard 8" barrel with New York address, German silver front sight blade, v-notch rear sight cut into hammer, and rebated 6-shot percussion cylinder. Recoil shield cut for shoulder stock with appropriate steel backstrap. Smooth walnut grips with inspector cartouches visible on each side. Housed in early pattern leather flap holster with partially legible maker stamp inside and name scratched on outside of flap. CONDITION: Fair. Overall gray patina with older oxidation spots turning to pitting at some areas, including cylinder. Trigger guard exhibits mellow patina with darker spots. Grips good with impressions and faint cartouches. Oxidation in bore with still strong rifling. Action needs attention and does not index correctly. Full or partial matching numbers observed on frame, barrel assembly, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, and cylinder arbor. Wedge not correct with missing retaining screw. Holster dry with crackling surface and partial tear in belt loop. Missing toe plug and closure strap. BAS
