A custom bolt rifle chambered for the .35 Whelen cartridge by Griffin & Howe built on a K98 action. It has a 23” blued round steel barrel with quarter rib, gold line express rear sights, standing regulated for 100 yards and 2 folding leaf sights regulated for 200 and 250 yards respectively, and a barrel band hooded bead foresight. Top of the barrel is marked "NO 2835 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK, N.Y." while the left side ahead of the receiver is marked "35 WHELEN". The left side of the receiver in the chamber area is a German World War II-era proof, "6920" over a cursive "d" and towards the center of the receiver "Mod.98". The right side of the receiver is marked "214". Barrel also with banded sling swivel stud. The action has a jeweled bolt body with a 6-panel bolt handle - 5 panels checkered and the last panel foliate engraved. The top of the bolt handle has a cursive "d" while the rear of the bolt has the number "6920". Both the jeweled magazine follower and bolt release have the number "20". The action has a Winchester Model 70 style 3-position safety and is fit with a blued steel floorplate with release inside of the blued trigger bow which protects the fire blued, smooth single trigger. The best quality light brown walnut stock with straight grain is built with a 2-panel sharp checkered pistol grip, blued steel grip cap, shadow line cheekpiece, vacant gold oval, steel checkered buttplate, and a swivel stud for sling on buttstock. Forend with matched checkering and ebony forend tip. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains 98% original blue. Stock and forend with minor handling marks from storage. CP
