Classic configuration with figure 8 trigger that cocks hammer and manipulates cylinder on pull before dropping hammer with trigger. Cone front sight, notch rear sight. Top strap with 3 line patent and address information. 2 piece walnut grips, with left grip having a faint cartouche underneath retaining screw, now illegible. Frame marked "M" and "T" under left grip; left grip scale marked "12578". "12578" further found on underside of barrel, visible when rammer is removed. Screw that holds the rammer assembly and coil spring in place has been replaced with a headless piece, preventing further disassembly. "H" proofs visible on both sides of octagonal barrel. What looks to be a "W" proof is visible on left side of rammer assembly. CONDITION: Metal is an even chocolate patina throughout, with some flashes of dove grey visible, and some rubbing to silver at high edges, such as octagonal edges of barrel. Top strap, cylinder, and parts of frame around cylinder have normal pitting from use of percussion caps. Some silvering at reciprocating areas such as top of trigger. There are a few strikes through the patina to bare metal, with an unclear purpose but look as though they were made with a scribe. Mechanically fine, bore is good with visible rifling and a few spots of pitting in the grooves. EMW
