1911A1 built by Colt to commemorate the European theatre of operations during World War II. Standard configuration with correct rolled legends highlighting particular areas surrounded by oak leaves. Housed in correct case with 7 inert rounds and insert showing the surrender at Rheims and detailing further areas of operation. Under the drawer is Colt paperwork detailing the operation of the handgun and a certificate congratulating the new owner. There is also a business card for BDS Enterprise, with "Belleau Wood" and "Argonne" written on back; 2 other pistols in this sale (the Belleau Woods and Meuse Argonne commemoratives) share the 654 serial number, and were probably purchased at BDS because of their serial number. CONDITION: Fine with a few minor areas of wear from handling and storage. A few very minor areas of clouding in the nickel finish. Case is fine with some age related bumps and bruises from display. Paperwork is fine with a crease from being folded under the drawer. A nice example. EMW
