Round barrel marked on top "WDR O (with umlaut) L. C. No 24" (N is backwards). Barrel is retained by pins and 2 brass overstraps. Brass blade front sight V notch rear sight. Unmarked lock with swan neck cock, bridled pan. "1 M.S. No 15" engraved on trigger guard. Simple brass furniture including "L" shaped sideplate. Stock affixes to iron backstrap via a T shaped lug, and has a brass buttplate with "No 32 K". Comes with documentation attributing the WDR mark to the Vastgota Dragoon Regiment and the 1 MS No. 15 marking to the 1st Squadron of the Morner Hussars. Vastgota is best remembered as a cavalry unit unto 1811, when it was reformed as an infantry regiment. The Morner Hussars was the name used by senior light cavalry unit in the Swedish Army during the Napoleonic Wars, named in 1801 after commander Hampus Morner. They participated in several notable battles including Leipzig and Dennewitz. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned in the European fashion with some polishing marks and spotted oxidation. Legends are somewhat softened as a result of cleaning. Stock has numerous little handling marks and bruises from an age of use, and two cracks, at sideplate and wrist. A few chips, prominent at left side of stock, right side near lock, and left stirrup. Cock does not hold on any position, bore is very good. Brass a rich untouched patina with some verdigris in a few areas.
