Manufactured by Ruger between 1963 and 1964 as a single shot pistol with a caliber appropriate for varmint and various small game animals. 8 - 1/2" barrel with serrated ramp front sight on sight, adjustable notch rear sight. Bushnell Phantom scope base affixed to barrel just ahead of top strap and marked "HAWKEYE". No transfer bar safety. Left side of barrel marked "RUGER HAWKEYE / WIN. .256 MAG. CAL.) and the Ruger Phoenix. Left side of frame with Ruger's Southport address, right side with serial number. 2-piece grips with silver phoenix medallions. Appropriate Ruger yellow cardboard box, appropriately sized. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with some very minor marks from handling and some very light silvering to the highest edges, such as muzzle and ejector rod house. Frame is excellent, with crisp legends. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling. Grips are good, somewhat dry, with some handling marks particularly visible on right grip, but free of cracks or chips. Box is very good with some age-related distress to edges but complete. This is a good example of a rare firearm. EMW
