Lot consist of: (A) Egyptian Contract Remington Rolling Block single shot rifle. Made 1870's on contract for Egypt. No visible markings, minus the patent dates on the tang. Round, steel barrel with blade front sight and rear ladder. Metal components have a light blued finish under a brown patina. Wood has a light oil finish. Smooth metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with a brown patina in most areas, in addition to some light surface rust. Wood has handling marks and scratches. There is a small crack at the bottom of the tang. Bore is frosted with good overall rifling. Tight hammer. Mechanically fine. (B) Argentine Contract Model 1879 Remington Rolling Block single shot rifle. Made early 1880s for Argentina. "MODELO ARGENTINO 1879 E.N." marked on the chamber. Three line patent address on the upper tang. Round, steel barrel having been slightly shortened and the bayonet lug cut back. Large blade front sight with rear ladder adjustable to 1100 meters. Metal components are all correctly in the white. Wood has a light re-applied oil finish. CONDITION: Metal has some areas of brown patina forming, with no signs of heavy polishing and cleaning. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted, but retains strong rifling. Tight hammer. Mechanically fine. JWA
