Lot consist of: (A) Springfield Model 1873 trapdoor single shot rifle. Made 1880-1881. This rifle was later made into a custom match rifle. The barrel is marked "6G. CIRCULA CUT .005 DEEP/GAIN TWIST FROM 0 TO ONE/TURN IN 19.5 INCHES/4580". Standard markings on the lock and breech block. "E.R.R." marked on the chamber. Boxed "SWP/1880" cartouche on the left side of the stock. "U.S." marked on the top of the butt plate. Standard blade front sight with a typical rear sight, that has an added screw for light windage adjustment. There is an un-marked rear tang sight on the wrist. Original military blued finish on the metal components. Wood has a light oil finish. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with areas of patina and wear. Some light freckling can be seen in areas. Wood has dings and scratches. Bore is clean overall with strong rifling. Tight hammer. Mechanically fine. (B) Marlin Model 1889 lever action rifle. Made 1889. Standard two line company address and patent dates on the barrel. "MARLIN SAFETY" marked on the top of the receiver. Octagon barrel with no rear front sight. Factory buckhorn style rear sight. Original blued finish turning to a brown patina in some areas. Wood has a varnished finish that is not original. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with most areas forming a brown patina. Wood has handling marks and scratches. There is a chip on the left side of the tang. Bore is clean with strong rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
