Lot consists of (A) Type 38 carbine manufactured at the Koishikawa arsenal. Top of receiver bears a partially crossed out chrysanthemum above kanji denoting the model designation. Features include a blue finish, 19 - 1/4" barrel, 2-piece wood stock, as well as a mid-production pattern small tang safety knob. Bolt body and firing pin are matching. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original finish, showing areas of thinning and wear to brown patina, as well as light surface oxidation all around. Bore is bright, showing areas of oxidation and good rifling throughout. Wood shows scattered impressions and dings overall. (B) Type 38 carbine manufactured by Kokura arsenal. Top of receiver bears a crossed out chrysanthemum above kanji characters denoting the model designation. Features include a blue finish, 19 - 1/4" barrel, 2-piece wood stock, as well as a late pattern notched safety knob. No matching numbers are present. CONDITION: Metal components fair to good amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of oxidation and pitting all around. Dark bore with fair rifling throughout. Stock is good as sanded and revarnished. Upper handguard is an unvarnished replacement. MLW
