Smith & Wesson Model 1917 double action revolver chambered in .45 ACP and manufactured in May of 1918. Blued square butt "N" frame with period style plain walnut stocks, lanyard ring, and pinned round barrel. Left side of barrel stamped "S.&W. D.A. 45" and under barrel stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Manufacturer address and patent dates on top of barrel. Bottom of grip is stamped "U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917 NO 55009". US ordnance flaming bomb stamped on top left side of frame. 3 inspector "S" marks on cylinder face, inside frame, and barrel flat. All matching serials throughout. Includes 2 half moon clips and 1 full moon clip. CONDITION: Good overall with majority of the original bluing remaining. Slight pitting on left side of barrel towards muzzle. Approximately 1" from the muzzle there is a gouge in the right hand of the rifling. Handling marks and light scratches throughout. Bright bore and good mechanics. GFP
