US Model 1851 pattern officer's sword belt. Folded black leather, now oxidized brown, with friction adjusting buckle and rectangular 1851 pattern eagle plate with short, small tongue. Correct commercial officer pattern with integral rather than applied wreath. Adjusting buckle and hasp sewn in place. Sword slings fitted on sliding loops, with support hook and snap swivels. CONDITION: Good. Belt is solid though with finish losses from wear to edges and flexing. Plate and keeper medium bright. Rear sling is full length, but has partial tear. Front sling is broken, though seems full length, and sliding loop has torn at bottom, leaving the slings loosely linked by the snap hooks. This could be very much improved with some little work.
