United States 50 star flag which was flown over the US Capitol building on July 4, 1976. The flag is constructed of thick cotton bunting and remains folded in its original box. The flag is accompanied by an envelope with a certificate which states the flag was flown over the Capitol building on July 4, 1976 for Mr. Robert C. Failing Jr. of St. Johnsonville, New York. The certificate is signed by George M. White, FAIA, Architect of the Capitol. CONDITION: The flag exhibits very light wear, as it was only flown once and most likely folded and stored in its box for the rest of its existence. The box exhibits scattered blemishes from handling and storage, bottom exhibits tears. Overall very good. PROVENANCE: John K. Lattimer Collection. JLD
