Edward and William Bond are recorded with the sole address of 45 Cornhill circa 1816-1826. This pepperbox is equipped with the traditional 6 barrels with view and proof marks in gullets, recoil shield integral with German silver frame, engraved in scroll on a hatched ground with central ribbon reading "E&W BOND, / 45 CORNHILL LONDON" on left side. Hammer has engraving en suite. Straps and trigger guard are more sparsely engraved but in the same pattern and no doubt the same hand. Frame has an unusual rectangular trap in butt. Trigger guard has some English high polish blue left on internals. 2-piece grips retained by screw with single escutcheon. Housed in a wooden case with accessories comprising patch tins, modern Remington caps, threaded rod currently equipped with a cleaning head, combination bullet mold, sprue cutter, and nipple wrench, and powder flask. CONDITION: Case colors on barrels are completely faded, leaving a dove grey patina throughout. Frame is excellent with crisp engraving and a few splotches of what looks like some kind of chemical. Trigger guard exterior has lost all of the English high polish blue, but interior still retains plenty of blue. Grips are very good, complete, with some dings and nicks throughout. Accessories are very good, mostly gunmetal patina throughout. Mechanically fine, bores are very good with a minimum of oxidation. A nice example. EMW
