1990, USA: Automatic Banjo built by Ragtime Automated Music, affectionally known by customers as "Ragtime". Founded in 1971 by Ken Caulkins of Modesto, California, they have been manufacturers and innovators of all types of automatic music for over 50 years. Everything from upright piano conversions to elaborate orchestrions, Ragtime quality is the backbone of their success. This example is one of their coin operated automatic banjos. Perforated roll operation, with delicate mechanical "fingers" to strum and note the real banjo, all housed in their deluxe cherry finished cabinet. CONSIDERATIONS: Almost brand new, with little signs of wear, needing a good tuning and mechanical cleaning to operate properly. Sold originally for around $15,000. Includes one music roll.
