1900, GERMANY: Euphonion music boxes were mostly made by Polyphon, and the center portion of this clock where the music box resides bears a striking resemblance to a Polyphon style 104. However, bot the cabinet and the comb casting are marked with "Euphonion". The music box plays 50cm (20") discs across 118 teeth on a duplex comb. The clock is unmarked, but in a similar style and finish of the center section. The storage base is also an original and the entire piece comes apart into 3 pieces. CONSIDERATIONS: Mechanically, the music box plays on a coin. There is no linkage to the music box from the clock, but there could be. The clock runs. There is only light wear to the piece, some oxidation to the clock face that could be removed, and the marquee on the clock appears to be an original piece, but not to the clock. At almost 9' tall, it is a very impressive piece of mechanical music. Includes 3 discs. Featured in "Jukeboxen en Speelautomaten", a book by H. Krijnen and R. Doornberg, p. 103
