1895, FRANCE: There is not a lot of history available for Poirot Freres as an organ/orchestrion builder. We know his business was in Mirecourt, France, and that he was known for building automatic musical instruments of the highest quality, and here you have one. This 72 key barrel orchestrion is built with the greatest of workmanship, from the burl veneer case to the cast brass componentry, ebonized accents and quality workmanship, this is truly an instrument that belongs in a museum. It is extremely rare, and it is doubtful another of this condition and caliber exists anywhere in the world today. Not only is it a work of art to see, but a treat for your ears to hear play. The original pipes are in immaculate condition. The barrel - and it's a long one - is in a condition rarely found in 130 year old orchestrions, and there are two of them, giving you that much more enjoyment. You have to be sure to visit our website at www.morphyauctions.com and click on the video to hear it play. One of a kind instrument and a one of a kind opportunity. CONSIDERATIONS: Near perfect. Light areas of wear due to moving, but nothing at all to distract form the great appearance.
