A German Third Reich TENO Subordinates Hewer with nickel plated steel blade maker marked for the firm of Eickhorn. The 9-1/2” blade retains all of its original factory nickel plating, but has developed light freckling and some staining over most of the surface. The maker's logo, consisting of the name “Eickhorn” and their trademark squirrel, as well as “Ges Gesch” (Patent Pending) can be seen marked on the blade near the guard. The blade is also numbered under the guard with the number “3674”. The crossguard, hilt, and pommel, are nickel plated zinc. However, most of the nickel plating on the reverse side has lifted from the zinc base metal and some zinc pest has developed on the exposed zinc. The 2 white trylon grip plates are intact and without damage. Both plates have taken on a light yellowing from age. The scabbard is made of black painted steel which retains almost all of its factory black paint. Scattered light marks can be seen throughout the black paint, with one area on the reverse scratched down to the steel base. The drag and throat body are made of nickel plated steel, with no lifting to the plating, and only mild patina throughout. The top of the scabbard throat is numbered “3674”, corresponding to the number on the dagger’s blade. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. DMW
