Lot consists of: (A) World War I US Army Model 1917 Trench Knife missing the scabbard. The knife features triangular blade exhibits 3 significant lines on each side from being taken in and out of scabbard. The knife is wood gripped with finger grooves and a D-guard with 7 pyramid-shaped projections sticking out of the face including the skull crusher. The top of the guard is marked "U.S. / L.F.&C. / 1917". CONDITION: The blade exhibits subtle traces of the original finish and is slightly bent towards the tip. The wood handle exhibits slight dents and handling marks. Overall good. (B) Unmarked World War II fighting knife that is attributed to Knife Crafters of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA. Knives of this pattern were manufactured using old sword blades. 1 sword blade could be used to manufacture at least 3 knives. Various Civil War-era swords and Patton sabers were used to manufacture these knives. The knife features a clip-point blade with a hollow steel handle that is covered in leather. The knife is complete with its leather scabbard. CONDITION: The blade is bright with evidence of polishing and sharpening as well as areas of spotting. The leather handle remains supple with handling wear. The scabbard is supple and exhibits scratches and blemishes with tight stitching. Overall good. JLD
