Fine example of a World War II Case M3 fighting knife with its original M6 leather scabbard. The knife features a blued carbon steel 6 - 3/4" spearpoint blade with a 3 - 1/2" secondary blade. The blade is marked "U.S. M3 CASE 1943". The blade is followed by a blued steel crossguard with an angular bend at one end in order to facilitate a thumb rest. The handle features a polished, lacquered, and grooved leather grip and is topped with a blued pommel cap that is properly ordnance marked and numbered "7009". The knife is complete with a nice M6 leather scabbard that features a metal reinforcement plate and is marked "U.S. M6 / BARWOOD / 1943". CONDITION: The blade retains some of its original blued finish that has faded and exhibits scattered scratches and blemishes from being removed from the scabbard. The guard and pommel retain some of their finish but exhibit areas of pitting. The grooved leather handle remains tight and exhibits handling wear. The scabbard retains all of its original components and the snap is functioning. The leather remains pliable and exhibits various scratches and a few dents. There are scattered creases, especially around the belt loop. Overall very good. W.R. Case & Sons Co. manufactured approximately 300,465 M3 knives during the war and this is a very nice complete example of a desirable World War II fighting knife. JLD
