Manufactured 1900. Blade front sight, partially serration matted rear sight that also depresses to function as a safety. Left side of slide marked "BROWNINGS PATENT" / PAT'D APRIL 20, 1897" and "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A.", with encircled Rampant Colt of rear. Right side of slide with "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". Cocking serrations at rear. Left side of frame with serial number. Short trigger, oval walnut grips with escutcheons, heel magazine release. No magazine present. CONDITION: Metal retains approximately 1/3 of the blued finish, primarily on frame and in protected areas such as around sights. Sides of slide essentially patina with some inactive patination on left side. Some handling marks including some dings and deeper pings and 1 strike at left rear side of frame that has led to a crack down the backstrap, approximately 1/2". Mechanically fine, bore is good with visible, somewhat softened rifling, and frosting throughout. Grips are very good with some handling marks and dings, and 1 crack on left scale through escutcheon.
