German silver front sight on octagonal barrel with top rib, rear sight mounted to top strap. British proofs including intertwined "AL" under a star, "(Crown) / L", and ELG proof. "(Crown) / R" and "(Star) / AL (intertwined)" on right side of barrel assembly, just ahead of cylinder. "(Star) / AL (intertwined)", "(Crown) / L" proof on right side of frame behind recoil shield. Interesting safety mounted to the backstrap which prevents hammer from being cocked. 2 piece grips retained by single screw through escutcheon. Butt with rotatable lanyard loop, with "40" stamped on bottom of frame and left grip scale. CONDITION: Good. Retains the majority, approximately 75%, of the bluing, with most losses on frame and high edges, with some other scattered losses. Some silvering to high edges. Some marks from handling and use, some of which are silvering. Cylinder with a distinct turn line. Grips are very good with an extra coating of varnish over some bruises and minor chips throughout. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some pitting in grooves. EMW
