Carl Moon (1879-1948), a contemporary of Edward Curtis, moved to the American Southwest in 1903 to capture Native American culture and the West through painting and photography. This powerful hand-colored photographic print "Open Country" boldly showcases a mounted Native American riding through a barren Western landscape. Moon's monogram is found in the lower left. Framed in an attractive older gilt gesso decorated wood frame retaining the reattached original backing stamped with the work's title. CONDITION: Very good. Colors remain bright with little fading. Frame has some minor chips and spots of finish loss but overall presents very well. View: 19 - 1/2" x 15 - 1/2". Overall: 25" x 21". BAS
