Scarce steel frame Smith & Wesson Model 39 semi-automatic pistol. Made late-1960s. This gun is in the first serial range, 39,000-64,000. This is an interesting variation in itself, as it features an alloy backstrap. "MODEL 39" marked on the left side of the frame. 4-line company address on the left side of the slide. Trademark is on the right side of the frame. Long extractor gun, with "PAT'S PENDING" under the ejection port. Ramped blade front sight and adjustable U-notch rear. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Oil finished wood grips with gold medallions. Includes 1 original blued steel magazine. CONDITION: Metal retains 98% of its original finish with a few handling marks. Grips are excellent. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine with de-cocker working as it should. Magazine is excellent. JWA
