It is believed that less than 3000 of these rare guns were ever manufactured. Swivel breech configuration, with top and bottom barrels each having their own diminutive cone sights, while central "barrel" contains a sliding cruciform dirk with a squared blunt tip. Barrels marked "FRANK WESSON / WORCESTER, MASS / PAT. DEC. 15. 1868" in 3 lines, vertically. Distinct hammer with ring. Brass frame with recess on right side for loading/unloading. Two piece birdshead grips, with 363 serial number internally on each grip and on frame. CONDITION: Very good, barrels retaining approximately half of their bluing with some fading to silver and high edges and spots of flaking. Legends are crisp, and machining marks on central "barrel" are clean. Dirk slides appropriately. Brass frame is very good with a rich golden patina, and some marks from handling, most noticeable where barrel assembly and frame meet. Grips are very good with some scratches and marks on high edges. Mechanically fine, barrels are very good with some light frosting. A lovely example of a rare gun. EMW
