Round barrel with simple front sight / bayonet lug and British private proofs over chamber. Barrel is retained by 2 keys. Brass nosecap. Tulip head ramrod retained by a single thimble with flared mouth and feeding into a reinforced mouth. Stepped lock marked "NOCK" in center, "XRH" at rear, marked vertically, just ahead of step. Swan neck cock, waterproof bridled pan with fence, roller bearing frizzen. Plain brass trigger guard with hole at fore for sling swivel attachment. Vacant brass escutcheon on wrist. Brass buttplate with "6" at heel. Brass sideplate with very soft inscription, looks to be "Mall Oliver" with third hole at rear for sling bar, not attached and filled with a newer screw. CONDITION: Barrel is an even chocolate patina with marks softened by age. Lock is heavily silvered with a few areas of oxidation. Frizzen roller a modern iteration. Stock is very good with an extra layer of varnish applied, a number of bumps and bruises throughout, and a repair at fore barrel key. Brass has an attractive golden patina. Mechanically fine, bore is good with a minimum of oxidation. Further research into the name may prove fruitful.
